Looks like Detroit but no- it's Seattle!- where a once-in-twenty-years winter storm has paralyzed the region. Of course it doesn't help they have no plows, refuse to salt the roads, and the region sits on a mountain slope.
In between blizzards, we spent a day at that Seattle tourist must-see, Pike Place Market.
Salmon on ice.
Crabs. One night we enjoyed a royal feast of fresh crab, lobster, and oysters. Nothing compares!
Many years ago, we resided for a short time in this Capitol Hill apartment building on Denny Way. What was Kinkos has been replaced by Peet's Coffee. Much of the neighborhood has changed- many of the shops are shuttered and vacant and the neighborhood seems to be undergoing a transition for the worse.
After a deadly e-coli outbreak, this former Jack in the Box gave away countless of meal vouchers in an attempt to draw customers. We collected hundreds of vouchers and ate here 3x a day for weeks- until the manager informed us we'd overused our vouchers and they were no longer valid so we'd have to start paying again. We kept a few of the vouchers just in case we returned to the neighborhood but noooo, they had to close down.
