May Day

Canada geese nibble on delicious dandelion shoots as cars speed past on Packard Road, Ann Arbor.

May 2007 is sure flying by quickly. What a great time of year- the flowers are blooming, the weather is temperate, and the days are long. No bugs yet either. In two weeks, we won't be making that claim.

The boat is in the water and running smooth, thanks to new spark plugs.

Over on Ted's farm, the log birdhouse resembles the face of a man who needs a glass of prune juice.

The grill burns off a little grease before another pile of chickens get cooked over applewood coals.

Tigers vs. Mariners

Our first Tiger game of the year was brimming with hope and promise. Another victory would tie their longest winning streak since 1984. Nine in a row could also put them in first place in their division. The rainy skies would clear in time for the game, said Sonny Elliot on the radio. Here are some pics that embody the spirit of the night.

The guy who sings eat 'em up Tigers, eat 'em up! over and over in front of Comerica Park has become so popular he now has an exclusive line of t-shirts (we'd link to the website that sells the shirts but after they bilked us the cost of a shirt and wouldn't return our emails, all we can say is avoid the scam).

The crowd waited anxiously as the rain clouds slowly moved out, delaying the game for over an hour.

Look left at the scoreboard. Look right at the batter. Repeat. Wherever the action on the field, their heads moved in perfect sync. Two 'bots that share the same central processing unit? We think so. Now we have more proof the military-industrial complex has built humanoid cyborgs and have moved them from the laboratory into the real world.

The skies broke and the game began as the half-light of dusk glowed above the bright lights.

An early lead faded as quickly as the sunset. By the sixth inning, the Tigers were down 9-2. We moved to better seats but the grind of losing began to take a serious toll on Paul.

By the eighth inning, all hope for a late-game rally was abandoned. A fun time was had but we're bummed they didn't pull off a win. We felt especially sorry for this guy: he has the best seat at Comerica Park but spends the season watching the crowd. There couldn't be a worse job.
